Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 7, 2026
Second Half AI respects your privacy. We collect and use personal information to provide consulting services, respond to enquiries, deliver our email newsletter, operate our website, and manage our business. This policy explains how we handle that information and how you can contact us about your privacy.
What we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
Contact information you provide, such as your name, email address, telephone number, and company.
Information you share through enquiries, reader questions, and consulting engagements.
Documents and files you provide for consulting work.
Newsletter subscription details, communication preferences, and records of consent and unsubscribe requests.
Information about newsletter delivery, email opens, and links clicked.
Technical and website usage information, such as browser and device information, IP addresses, and pages visited, depending on the services used and your privacy settings.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
Deliver advisory and consulting services.
Respond to enquiries and reader questions.
Communicate and collaborate with clients.
Share documents securely.
Send our newsletter and manage subscriptions.
Understand which newsletter topics readers find useful.
Operate, protect, and improve our website.
Maintain appropriate business and consent records.
Our newsletter contains practical articles about AI adoption and may include information about our services.
We do not sell personal information or provide our subscriber list to other businesses for their own marketing.
Email newsletters
We use Squarespace Email Campaigns to manage subscriptions and send our newsletter.
When you subscribe, we use your email address and any name you provide to deliver the newsletter and manage your subscription. We send newsletter emails with your consent or as otherwise permitted by applicable law.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting info@secondhalfai.com. We honour unsubscribe requests without delay and no later than 10 business days after receiving them.
Unsubscribing stops newsletter emails but does not prevent necessary communications about services you have requested.
Email opens and link tracking
Our newsletters use Squarespace’s reporting tools to measure delivery, email opens, and link clicks.
An invisible image in an email helps record when the email is opened. Tracked links help record when a reader clicks a link. This information may be associated with your email address. We use the reports to understand readership and improve the content of future newsletters.
Email reporting is not always accurate because email providers and privacy settings can block or automatically load images.
Website cookie preferences do not control tracking within newsletter emails. Blocking remote images in your email application may limit open tracking, but does not necessarily prevent link-click tracking. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time and can read our public articles on the website.
Website cookies and preferences
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to support its operation and, where enabled with your permission, understand how visitors use it.
Our cookie notice provides options to accept or decline non-essential cookies and manage your preferences. Essential cookies support functions necessary for the website to operate.
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Restricting some cookies may affect website functionality.
Website cookie choices apply to the website and are separate from the email reporting described above.
Reader questions
We use questions submitted by readers to respond and develop useful articles or newsletter answers.
If we publish a question, we remove or generalize identifying details. Please avoid including confidential business information or personal information about other people in questions intended for publication.
Service providers and processing outside Canada
We use established commercial service providers for website hosting, email delivery, document management, secure collaboration, and other business operations. These include Squarespace for our website and email newsletter.
Service providers may process personal information on our behalf to deliver these services. We use contractual and other appropriate measures to protect information handled by service providers and remain responsible for personal information under our control.
Information may be stored or processed outside Canada, including in the United States. While outside Canada, it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or other authorities under the laws of those countries.
Document sharing and security
We use security measures appropriate to the information and the nature of our work, including secure authentication, access management, controlled document permissions, and endpoint security.
When sharing client documents, we limit access to designated people and control permissions to view or edit them. Where needed, we provide controlled access to authorized external collaborators. We do not make confidential client documents publicly accessible.
When AI-assisted tools are used in our operations, we use them in a manner intended to protect confidential and sensitive business information.
No method of electronic transmission or storage can guarantee complete security.
Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy and for applicable legal, operational, and recordkeeping requirements.
After you unsubscribe, we may retain limited information, including your email address, consent history, and unsubscribe status, to respect your preferences and maintain appropriate records. Retaining those records does not mean you remain subscribed.
When information is no longer needed, we take appropriate steps to delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it.
Your choices and privacy questions
You can contact us to:
Request access to or correction of your personal information.
Withdraw consent, subject to applicable legal or contractual restrictions.
Request deletion, subject to applicable retention requirements.
Ask questions or raise a concern about our privacy practices.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request. If withdrawing consent affects our ability to provide a requested service, we will explain that to you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or practices change. We will update the effective date when we do so and provide additional notice or obtain consent where required.
